Funding Circle launches TV advert
Funding Circle has launched a TV advert to demonstrate how easily borrowers can access funds from the platform.
The advert features a man with his arms folded running frantically into a bathroom before looking down in shock as two purple arms, the ‘lending hands’, sprout out from his body.
He turns quickly, arms pushed behind his back in embarrassment, as another man enters. But the second man steps forward, waving two purple arms about and comforting his counterpart with the simple line: “it’s okay, we’ve got a lending hand from Funding Circle”.
As the narrator talks, he leads the first man, purple hand on his shoulder, through offices of different workers all with the same purple arms, one typing away at a computer, another painting, someone drinking coffee while banging a hammer and one staff member moving boxes.

“Get a fast and hassle-free business loan with a decision in as little as an hour and join thousands of other businesses which have grown with a lending hand from Funding Circle,” the advert’s narrator said.
“Apply today at fundingcircle.com.”
In a blog on its website, Funding Circle said the ad was aimed at improving brand awareness among business owners in the UK, and said it hopes the “the funny, fuzzy ‘lending hands’ will show your clients just how fast, easy and flexible” borrowing from the platform can be.

“We are currently at a really interesting time in our business journey,” said Jo Casley, head of brand campaigns at Funding Circle.
“Having been at the forefront of supporting small businesses through the pandemic it was important for our next campaign to go back to our roots and remind consumers why Funding Circle was founded in the first place.
“The ‘Get A Lending Hand’ campaign does just that, perfectly symbolising the transformational effect a loan from Funding Circle can have on a business, as well as showing that we are on hand to help every step of the way.”

“Getting a business loan can sometimes be a daunting and somewhat overwhelming experience, however, with Funding Circle’s unique offering this isn’t the case,” said Dave Henderson, who until December was creative partner at Atomic London, the agency which created the ad.
“We wanted to capture this in our creative idea, focusing on the joys of elevating a business via a loan by providing humour in a laid-back manner.
“Our purple lending hand assets will ensure Funding Circle is easily recognisable, making it distinctive from other financial services brands and helping to form the all-important memory structures in peoples’ minds.”
Funding Circle’s campaign represents the first major P2P TV advert for some time.
In May last year, Zopa Bank launched its first digital marketing campaign, with the tagline: “Turning money on its head since 2005”.
