Plend names Alice Tapper as strategic adviser
Financial inclusion campaigner Alice Tapper has joined Plend as a strategic adviser.
The peer-to-peer consumer lender said Tapper would help the platform “better understand and interact with borrowers.”
Tapper has been a key campaigner for better regulation of debt products in recent years, especially on buy-now-pay-later products.
She also runs financial news and education forum Go Fund Yourself.
Tapper’s appointment comes after Plend has been on a busy hiring spree in recent months.
Earlier this month, the company hired Ash Woolf as head of data analytics and Sarah Davies as head of compliance.
Earlier this year, Plend appointed Crowdcube co-founder and chief marketing officer Luke Lang as chairman and hired RateSetter’s former risk officer, Kevin Allen to lead the open banking-powered credit checking process.
In September, Plend raised £700,000 in a pre-seed equity funding round from venture capital firms in preparation for its launch.
Plend plans to use open banking and a modern credit checking processes to connect individuals seeking funding with investors and to offer more affordable personal loan rates to borrowers.
