Zopa Group board member Charles Birnbaum has stepped down after nearly three years in the role.
Birnbaum is partner at Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP). He invests in promising disruptive companies in finance, software, and consumer web services, as well as consumer and education firms, in the US and Europe.
Some of his recent investments include Abacus, Main Street Hub, Betterment and United Capital.
Before BVP, Birnbaum worked in corporate finance at Deutsche Bank and was director of business development at location-based mobile application and social network Foursquare.
During Foursquare’s growth phase, he helped build partnerships with carriers, media companies and original equipment manufacturers.
Prior to this, Birnbaum spent six years in investment banking and equity capital markets.
There have been a number of changes at Zopa recently. Olivia Broderick left Zopa at the end of May, after spending over three years at the P2P lender as general counsel and compliance and then group general counsel and company secretary, to join payment platform Checkout.com.
