PEER-TO-PEER education financier Lendwise has been selected as one of Europe’s 50 most promising startups at innovation festival Unbound London.
Lendwise was also invited to compete in the Future of Finance Startup Battle taking place at the festival, alongside five other promising start-ups from around the world, a statement from Lendwise said on Monday.
Unbound selects the top 50 emerging businesses – which it considers to be building the future of tech – from across Europe. The event takes place on the 17th and 18th of July near London’s silicon roundabout tech hub in Shoreditch.
“Being selected as one of the Unbound50 and considered as one of Europe’s most promising cross-vertical start-ups is a major endorsement of Lendwise,” Rishi Zaveri, co-founder and chief executive of Lendwise, said.
“We are passionate about the social impact that we are enabling, our investors and helping ambitious graduates and professionals fulfil their career potential.”
Lendwise was founded in May this year by a team who have spent large parts of their careers working for the leading banks and who have a combined total of more than 80 years of banking, finance and IT experience.
The firm aims to fill a gap in high-street bank lending for postgraduate education and professional qualifications. It offers loans of up to £100,000 at rates between 7.5 per cent and 12 per cent. Investors can earn up to 10 per cent annual returns with an average of 7.5 per cent.
