THINCATS has appointed a former corporate finance executive as director of its regional business development unit in the West Midlands.

Geraint Regan (pictured) has joined the peer-to-peer business lender from accountancy firm Mazars and brings experience of advising on corporate finance transactions including acquisitions, disposals, management buy-outs and fundraisings.

Regan, a chartered account, has worked for businesses including PwC, EY, IBM and RBS and was most recently director of corporate finance at Mazars.

He will be based in the West Midlands with a mandate to prioritise the potential and growth of local small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

“SMEs continue to find access to finance difficult and this will become increasing challenging as we approach Brexit, meaning that thousands of small businesses across the UK are missing out on finance to support them with their growth ambitions,” Regan said.

“As a regional SME itself, ThinCats understands these challenges and is providing the opportunity to effectively support entrepreneurs and SMEs in the short, medium and long term through a variety of flexible financing structures.”

Damon Walford, chief development officer at ThinCats said the appointment will boost the business lending platform’s offering in the region.

“ThinCats has a strong regional heritage in understanding and untapping the growth of UK SMEs,” Walford said.

“Regan’s experience will enhance our offering as more businesses turn to funders like ThinCats.”
