Funding Circle to launch two new mobile apps this year

Marc Shoffman Industry News, News Android, apps, business loans, Funding Circle, iPhone, p2p

FUNDING Circle is looking to expand its presence in the mobile apps space.

The business lender, which currently only has an iPhone app for investors to access, monitor and manage their accounts, is now advertising for a global mobile apps product manager and for an Android developer.

Both positions are based in the UK.

The product manager vacancy reveals the platform is planning to launch a new Android app this year and there will also be a re-launch of its iPhone app.

“We have an ambitious roadmap for this year and want to launch two new apps (Android and iOS) for our investors,” the job advert on the Funding Circle website said.

The job posting for an Android developer requires someone who is “passionate about revolutionising the investment experience through mobile”.

Funding Circle first launched an iPhone app in 2015 and has made several updates since. It has a rating of 2.8 stars out of five on the App Store.

Users have in the past asked on Funding Circle’s customer support page about whether an Android app would be launched.

The most recent question about the app came earlier this month, with the response noting that most Funding Circle investors were using iPhones.

“We chose to prioritise the app for iPhone users because our usage data shows us that significantly more Funding Circle investors use iOS than android,” it said.

“That said, we are keen to release an Android app too and will look into it in the future, taking our learnings from this one.”

Funding Circle has been making new hires across the business to support its plans for growth. It appointed its first-ever commercial head of retail investments, Lauren Reading, last November.

Only a handful of P2P lenders have launched apps so far, with other platforms choosing to focus on the overall web, desktop and mobile user experience instead.
