GROWTH Street has continued its hiring spree by appointing its first ever chief technology officer.
The peer-to-peer business lender has hired Nick Stevenson (pictured) to lead its technology team, where he will help to scale up the platform’s flagship product GrowthLine and develop other products to help small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) grow.
Stevenson was previously vice president of engineering at online direct debit provider GoCardless, and before that he worked at Amazon Instant Video, LOVEFiLM, and the BBC’s iPlayer service.
“It is a very exciting time to be joining Growth Street, where I believe there is a tremendous opportunity for development in the fintech space,” said Stevenson. “I will draw on all of my experience in the industry to help Growth Street intelligently combine people and technology in a way that gets the best out of each.
“My role is to help Growth Street provide SMEs with the tools and tips they need to generate sustainable and solid growth.”

Stevenson’s appointment coincides with the launch of a new suite of automated tools which will help SMEs manage their cash flow and working capital.
“I am delighted to welcome Nick to the business,” said Greg Carter, chief executive officer at Growth Street. “His experience in developing technology for some of the world’s biggest brands is a great asset for us.
“At our core, Growth Street is about helping SMEs to grow and scale up, and this is exactly what we hope Nick can do for us. Nick’s engineering and leadership skills will be invaluable in the continued delivery of simple solutions for our SMEs and lenders.”
Growth Street has recently expanded its team with a number of new hires. In July, the firm announced the appointment of Chan Purewal, formerly of Boost Capital and Bibby Financial Services, as director of sales, as well as Nicola Weedall, previously of GE Capital, as head of relationship management, while Nick Owers, formerly head of banking relationships at iwoca, was named business development manager.
Earlier this year, Chris Weller joined the platform as commercial director.
