VC firm behind Zopa among judges at PitchIt funding competition
A VENTURE capital (VC) firm that backed Zopa in its early days has been named among judges for the second annual PitchIt Europe competition.
The event, taking place at the LendIt Europe conference in London from 9-10 October, allows small fintech companies to pitch for funding and hear from industry experts.
Rob Moffat, partner at Balderton Capital, an early Zopa backer, will be one of the VC judges alongside Seedcamp’s Reshma Sohoni, Blenheim Chalcot’s Dan Cobley and managing director of CommerzVentures Patrick Meisberger.

The event takes place at The Intercontinental London – The O2 and fintech firms can apply for a slot at the PitchIt event here. The deadline is 4 September.
Representatives from peer-to-peer lending platforms such as Zopa and Funding Circle are also among the speakers at LendIt Europe.
“The judges for this year’s PitchIt competition offer a fantastic range of knowledge, skills and experience,” Jason Jones, co-founder and chief executive of the LendIt Conference, said.
“The high calibre of judges we’ve had over the years is a testament to how the competition has evolved, and it’s inspiring to see another strong panel taking to the stage for the competition. I’m confident that their diverse professional backgrounds will see one of the most exciting PitchIt competitions yet.”
