Growth Street boosts commercial expertise with new hires

Marc Shoffman Industry News, News Chan Purewal, Chris Weller, Growth Street, Nick Owers, Nicola Weedall

SMALL business finance peer-to-peer platform Growth Street has bolstered its team with three new hires, to support its expansion plans.

Chan Purewal, formerly of Boost Capital and Bibby Financial Services, has joined as director of sales, Nicola Weedall, previously of GE Capital, has joined as head of relationship management, while Nick Owers, formerly head of banking relationships at iwoca, has become a business development manager.

The new recruits join Chris Weller, who joined earlier this year as commercial director.

Weller said the new staff would boost Growth Street’s commercial expertise.

“We are embarking on an important phase of growth, and bringing their experience into the team will heighten our ability to scale in the coming months and beyond,” he said.

It has been a busy year so far for Growth Street after its founder Greg Carter resumed his role as chief executive in April and the firm hit the 1,000 investor milestone in June, six months after making its offering available to retail lenders.

The platform offers investors up to 6.5 per cent annual returns from 30-day loans, and has recently stepped up its strategy to attract new borrowers by widening its range of free data tools and readying a product for brokers.
