RateSetter poaches RBS manager for SME role
RATESETTER has appointed former Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) senior manager Amanda Sharp as regional relationship manager for London and the South East, to supervise business lending opportunities in the region.
Sharp will help develop strong relationships with finance brokers and advise local businesses on larger and more complex borrowing requirements, the peer-to-peer lending platform announced on Tuesday as part of its new strive to boost its lending to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME).

Sharp brings 36 years of experience in commercial banking and SME relationship management at RBS, having focused on Chelmsford, Essex in her last post at the high-street lender.
“This is an important appointment for us because building personal relationships with our SME borrowers forms a vital part of our proposition, combining great people with our first class application and approval technology,” said the firm’s managing director of commercial finance Paul Marston.
“Senior people with Amanda’s experience and knowledge are very hard to come by and we are pleased to be welcoming her to our expanding team of regional managers, particularly at a time when the banks are reducing their headcount in this area.”
“I am passionate about helping SMEs to reach their goals, so I’m excited to be joining RateSetter in this role,” said Sharp. “I pride myself in providing a good customer experience and I am always looking to exceed expectations.”
The new appointment comes shortly after RateSetter joined the government’s Women in Finance Charter, which aims to tackle gender inequality in financial services – becoming the second P2P firm to back the initiative after Landbay.
