ThinCats recruits Harry Takhar to origination team

BUSINESS peer-to-peer lender ThinCats has hired Harry Takhar from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to help build the platform’s database of loan introducers and sponsors.

Takhar, who spent seven years in the RBS commercial banking and capital markets teams, will work as a business development executive in the ThinCats origination department.

This department is responsible for linking with local brokers or those trying to arranging finance for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

“Harry is one of several exciting appointments to the origination team, which we feel is now very well placed to understand the needs and wants of UK SMEs, and the introducers and sponsors that we work with,” said Damon Walford, chief development officer at ThinCats.

“This model is unique in the P2P sector, using independent financial experts to vet and assess the businesses looking for loans, while providing borrowers with access to funding that may be difficult through traditional channels.

“The model also offers lenders better information and guarantees a more detailed assessment before they decide on where to invest their funds.”
