Kathryn Gaw

PODCASTS have become one of the nation’s favourite sources of information and entertainment. According to Ofcom, almost six million Brits tune into a podcast every week – double the number of five years ago. And a few finance podcasts have started to make their way up in the charts, giving current and future investors a way to suss out new trends.

In response to demand, more and more financial podcast hosts are discussing peer-to-peer finance – the rewards, the risks, and the jargon. Here are five of our favourite P2P-related pods…

1. Lend Academy Podcast

Created by Peter Renton, the co-founder of LendIt, this international podcast was one of the first to take a close look at the P2P industry. Every week, Renton interviews a P2P borrower, analyst lender or innovator, and more than 200 episodes in, he has hosted everyone from Lending Club’s Renaud Laplanche, to Zopa chief executive Jaidev Janardana and MarketInvoice’s Anil Stocker. A great way to get to know the key figures in P2P in 30 minutes or less!

CrowdProperty chief executive Mike Bristow was a recent guest, telling the story behind the huge growth of his platform.

5. In for a Penny

Hosted by P2PFN’s very own Marc Shoffman and his financial planner friend Joshua Gerstler, this inventive and educational podcast covers all things personal finance.
