Five podcasts for P2P lending enthusiasts
PODCASTS have become one of the nation’s favourite sources of information and entertainment. According to Ofcom, almost six million Brits tune into a podcast every week – double the number of five years ago. And a few finance podcasts have started to make their way up in the charts, giving current and future investors a way to suss out new trends.
In response to demand, more and more financial podcast hosts are discussing peer-to-peer finance – the rewards, the risks, and the jargon. Here are five of our favourite P2P-related pods…
1. Lend Academy Podcast
Created by Peter Renton, the co-founder of LendIt, this international podcast was one of the first to take a close look at the P2P industry. Every week, Renton interviews a P2P borrower, analyst lender or innovator, and more than 200 episodes in, he has hosted everyone from Lending Club’s Renaud Laplanche, to Zopa chief executive Jaidev Janardana and MarketInvoice’s Anil Stocker. A great way to get to know the key figures in P2P in 30 minutes or less!

2. FT Money Show
A great podcast for all things finance, this weekly show offers a snapshot of the latest investment trends and takes a deeper look at some of the most-read articles from the Financial Times. P2P lending and Innovative Finance ISAs are frequent topics of conversation.
3. The Future of Finance
This podcast is perfect for investors who like to be on the cutting-edge of new investment opportunities. Dedicated to all things fintech and futuristic, the hosts travel the world interviewing innovators in every corner of the financial space, from SME lending, to AI-powered systems, to regulatory sandboxes. This is the podcast to listen to if you want to be the first to hear about the next big trend, while also absorbing fascinating insights from the likes of Funding Xchange’s Katrin Herrling.

4. The Return
A relatively new podcast that is carving out a valuable niche by exploring the ever-changing world of property investing. Crowdfunding and P2P lending feature heavily in the show, both as a way to invest in property and as a way to raise funds for new developments. CrowdProperty chief executive Mike Bristow was a recent guest, telling the story behind the huge growth of his platform.
5. In for a Penny
Hosted by P2PFN’s very own Marc Shoffman and his financial planner friend Joshua Gerstler, this inventive and educational podcast covers all things personal finance. Expect bite-sized episodes on everything from annuities, IFISAs, property investing and, erm, the tooth fairy. This is the perfect podcast for P2P and fintech newcomers in need of a guiding hand as they wade their way through some of the more confusing concepts in modern finance.
