Growth Street expands Midlands presence with new hire
PEER-TO-PEER lender Growth Street has hired a new business development manager for the West Midlands as it continues its UK-wide expansion.
Business finance expert Guy Jones has joined the firm’s Northern sales team, which is headed by Michael Ellis.
Jones has more than 18 years’ experience working with small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through his previous roles at Euler Hermes, ABN AMRO Corporate Finance, RBS, Bibby, Ultimate and Creative Capital. At these firms, he has advised on a range of corporate finance transactions, including asset finance and asset-backed lending, as well as finding innovative solutions to SME funding.
Jones will be based in Birmingham, and his new role will involve originating and structuring funding facilities for SMEs across the West Midlands.
“I’m very excited to join the Growth Street team at such an interesting time for the business and I look forward to continuing to support SMEs across the Midlands,” said Jones.
“Having spent my whole career to date working with SMEs in Birmingham and the Midlands, I’ve seen first-hand how high street banks have limited their appetite for SME lending, ignoring those ambitious SMEs that require finance to grow.
“With a true understanding of what businesses need and an ability to make quick decisions, Growth Street is well positioned to support management teams in what is undoubtedly an underserved SME market.”
Ellis said that he was “delighted” with the latest addition to the team.
“We are rapidly expanding our regional teams to ensure we have ‘boots-on-the-ground’ funding experts right across the length and breadth of the UK,” said Ellis. “Guy’s experience will help us provide more ambitious entrepreneurs with the funding they need to grow their businesses.”
Growth Street has been scaling up in recent months, making a series of new business development hires in the South and North of England, as well as Wales and the South East.
