Assetz hires two regional directors to support Scottish growth plans
ASSETZ Capital has hired two new regional directors to help it scale up its lending in Scotland.
The peer-to-peer business lender said on Thursday that it has appointed Duncan Cassidy (pictured) as relationship director for Scotland, who previously held a role within the firm’s credit management team.
Cassidy’s role will involve constructing loans for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region.

Prior to joining Assetz, he was a credit partner at Santander for three years, where he specialised in providing growth finance for care home groups.
Rory Whaling also joins Assetz as a relationship director. Whaling comes from a banking background, having spent 17 years in various finance roles tailoring financial solutions for a wide range of clients.
Both Cassidy and Whaling will join the UK-North team, which is headed up by regional director John Hewitt.

“The appetite for alternative finance remains high in Scotland, as well as the wider North of the UK,” said Hewitt.
“In order to meet this demand, we were keen to expand our team in the region, which will in turn allow us to serve a greater number of businesses and property developers.
“Rory and Duncan are excellent additions to our growing team. Both are experienced individuals with excellent track records, and I’m confident they will support us in our mission to become the leading provider of P2P finance in Scotland and the North of England.”
Assetz moved into a new office in Scotland last year, to accommodate its growing team.
“This is the second time we’ve upgraded our office in Scotland in two years, which is indicative of our performance in Scotland as well as the wider region,” Hewitt said at the time.
