ThinCats hires NatWest banker to join North West team
PEER-TO-PEER business lender ThinCats has continued its growth plans with the hire of a small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) finance expert to cover the North West of England.
Experienced corporate banker Richard Lamb (pictured) has joined from high street lender NatWest, where he was a relationship director for almost a decade.
Lamb will lead new business origination throughout the North West with a brief to support the structuring of lending facilities for growing and ambitious SMEs across the region.
He will specialise in senior secured loans between £100,000 and £10m for funding growth, acquisitions, refinancing and restructuring of debt.
“We’re extremely pleased to have Richard on board. He joins us after three decades of being embedded in the North West SME economy, giving meaningful advice and helping business owners make informed decisions to improve company performance and support growth,” said Damon Walford, chief development officer at ThinCats.
“He is able to draw on vast experience in supporting SMEs with management buy-outs and buy-ins, alongside growth funding and turnaround situations to help businesses return to financial health.”

The hire follows the addition of Rob Thompson to the ThinCats team earlier this year and continues a busy period for the company. It recently secured £200m of institutional funding and last December hit a monthly lending high of £12m.
“I am delighted to be joining ThinCats and providing businesses in the North West with a true alternative finance provider, dedicated to funding growing and ambitious SMEs,” said Lamb.
