London tech salaries £40k lower than global average
LONDON tech salaries are $57,000 (£40,830) lower than the global average for the industry, new research has found.
Professionals in the technology sector receive average pay of $78,000 in the UK capital, compared to a global average of $135,000.
Analysis by jobs site Hired found that the highest salaries were paid in the San Francisco Bay Area – encompassing the tech hotspot known as Silicon Valley – at an average of $142,000.
Los Angeles also pays well, at an average of $129,000, while over on the East Coast, New York offers an average tech salary of the same amount.

Paris lags even further behind than London, with firms offering an average pay packet of $56,000.
Transportation technology companies offer the largest salaries to tech workers, at a global average of $145,000. Financial services came out the lowest of eight sectors, with an average of $111,000.
Demand for tech workers is rising across the globe, due to the increasing digitalisation of the economy. Giles Andrews, chairman of peer-to-peer lender Zopa, has previously expressed concerns about a diminishing tech talent pool in the UK after Brexit, if EU migration is curtailed.
